English and Computer volunteer teachers - Nicaragua

Description: La Esperanza granada is always seeking English and Computer Teachers to work in the primary schools located in the poor barrios of Granada. As a volunteer teacher, you will work with a team teaching 45-minute English or Computer classes to various grades in two schools throughout the week. The English team provides classes for grades 4, 5, and 6, and is responsible for creating lessons, giving classes, and assessing the learning of the students. Computer teams work with younger children in grades 1 and 2 to introduce the children to computers, teach them basic skills, and play educational computer games.

We value the time you are willing to give. There are no program fees to volunteer with La Esperanza Granada. There is no registration fee. We ask each volunteer to make a $20 contribution to administration costs in order to continue using all donations directly for the schools.

Volunteers work 5 – 7 hours per day, four to five days per week. We prefer a time commitment of 8 weeks and an intermediate level of Spanish. Your volunteer position may depend on on-going projects, your time commitment, level of Spanish, previous experience, and our current needs.

We welcome long term volunteers, and often have volunteers who stay 6 months and longer. We also provide inexpensive volunteer housing or can arrange for homestays if you prefer.

Requirements:
We require an 8-week time commitment and intermediate Spanish.
