Description: Whether you are a service club, college group, ‘voluntourism’ group, or just some friends looking for something different to do – you can get involved and help make a difference. Groups are invited to do construction and/or maintenance work in the schools we support. Projects will be identified and your group will support the project by covering the cost and actually doing the work to make the project come to life. Various projects that have been undertaken by visiting groups range from planting a garden bed to building classrooms. Groups oftne also interact with the school children through things such as sport, craft projects, English tutoring, etc. When possible we encourage groups to take children on an excursion with them, this way you can share the excitement of them having a very special day visiting some of the country's wonderful national parks etc. which they would otherwise never have the opportunity to do.
We value the time you are willing to give. There are no program fees to volunteer with La Esperanza Granada. There is no registration fee. We ask groups to make a minimum contribution of $400 to cover the administrative costs of La Esperanza and your project, which allows all donations to continue going directing into our various programs. It is normal for groups to pay for their own food and accommodation (as do our individual and long-term volunteers) and to cover the cost of all materials used in their project. We can help you with booking accommodation, arranging airport pickup, arranging day tours etc. if you wish, or you can simply let us know what times you will be available to work in one of our schools and make your own arrangements – whichever suits your group best.
Your group size can be from five to fifty, and past groups have worked anywhere from a morning to a month – there is so much that needs to be done in the schools here, we can always find something that will suit you.
